I came across Modern Waste while comparing options and it was one of the few where the separation by chemistry type was described in a way that actually made sense. From what I understood batteries like lithium-ion from tools and lithium-ion from phones may share the same chemistry but still go through different handling steps depending on whether cells can be tested and reused. That kind of detail matters if you want to make sure you are staying compliant rather than just handing bags off to whoever picks them up. Beyond sorting the other thing worth checking is whether the provider covers packaging insulating transportation and labeling since managing those pieces separately adds a lot of friction. I would not say one provider fits every situation but the more specific they are about what materials they accept and how each type is processed the more confident you can feel about the whole thing being handled correctly.
